When High-Functioning Isn’t Healthy

In my thirties, many people described me as “high-functioning.” On the outside, I looked like I was doing well—I was working, achieving, managing everything, and keeping up appearances. But the truth was different. Inside, I was exhausted, grief-stricken, and running on empty.

My body eventually said no. I reached a breaking point where I could no longer continue living in the same way. This was the turning point of my journey. Instead of pushing harder, I chose to listen—to my body, to my grief, and to my need for healing.

Through yoga, somatic work, and breathwork, I found a new way of being. I learned that true strength is not about holding it all together but about allowing ourselves to rest, release, and reconnect. This is why I founded Jade Treen Somatics—so that I can share these tools and experiences with others who might be silently struggling while trying to “keep it all together.”
